Cancer Support

Any resident of Haringey who is being treated for any type of cancer by the Whittington Hospital Trust can get free written information and can drop in anytime between 10.00am and 4.00pm for a chat with Tracey Palmer, the Macmillan Information Manager at the Whitt in the M.  The information centre is just inside the foyer on the right of the main entrance on Magdala Avenue.  Or they can email or phone Tracey to book a time on 020 7288 5305 / 07881 834 433, email traceypalmer@nhs.net

There is a regular monthly support group.

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation offers a regular weekly walking group on Wednesdays, they meet at Highgate Station downstairs by the ticket office at 1.30.

They also offer workshops, chair based exercise classes, Pilates classes, circuit classes, all free of charge.  For more info or to register, please contact Laura Holland on c4c@tottenhamhotspur.com

The Whitt offers Look Good Feel Better Masterclasses.  Please contact Elizabeth Tamufor on 07867 372 712 for more info or to book a place.

Patients might also enjoy a free gentle hand / foot massage on Tuesdays between 1.00 - 4.00pm.  Booking required.  h.ormiston@nhs.net

For those patients who have finished treatment or are on maintenance treatment, the hospital offers a 6 week, group based, self-management support course, free of charge.  For more details or to book a place please contact Helen Ormiston on 0207 288 3192. 
There are also workshops offering support for families, carers and friends.

Macmillan workshops are also sometimes available: art as therapy, relaxation and visualisation techniques, words as therapy, mindfulness.

Creative workshops led by a former cancer patient are held on some Friday afternoons.

There is a quarterly Whittington Cancer Patients' newsletter available from the Macmillan Info Centre with updates in developments and events at the hospital.
